If you’re reading this, welcome! I’m excited to finally introduce Shape Psychology and share a bit about why we launched, what makes us different, and why performance psychology matters-not just for elite athletes, but for anyone who wants to thrive under pressure and in life.

Why Did We Launch?

Shape Psychology was born from a simple but powerful idea: performance and psychological support should be accessible, personal, and deeply human. Over years of working with athletes, leaders, and individuals, I saw firsthand how the right mindset & behaviours can unlock potential and create lasting change. But I also saw how hard it can be to find support that feels genuinely tailored to you-not cookie-cutter advice or jargon, but real understanding and practical tools that fit your unique story. So, I created Shape Psychology to fill that gap. To offer expert guidance rooted in evidence but delivered with empathy, humour, and authenticity. To help you shape not just your performance, but your experience of pressure, challenge, and growth.

What Makes Us Different?

I know that’s a big question-and honestly, it’s tricky to answer without sounding like every other coaching or psychology service out there. But here’s what I believe sets Shape Psychology apart:

· Personalised, not prescriptive: We don’t do one-size-fits-all. Your goals, your context, your values shape everything we do together.

· Whole person approach: You’re not just an athlete, a leader, or a performer-you’re a person with a life, emotions, and relationships. We work with all of that.

· Blending mental health and performance: With a background in both counselling and performance psychology, I’m able to support you whether you’re aiming for peak performance, working through mental health challenges, or navigating both at once. You don’t have to choose between wellbeing and achievement here-they go hand in hand.

· Values-driven: Our work is guided by core values-self-awareness, humour, authenticity, purpose, and empathy-that keep the process real and meaningful.

· Beyond the session: Support doesn’t stop when the session ends. We focus on building skills and mindset that last, helping you navigate life’s ups and downs.

· Professional and caring: We’re HCPC-registered and committed to ethical, accountable practice with your wellbeing at the centre.

It’s about creating a space where you feel heard, challenged, and supported to be your best self-on your terms.

Why Performance Psychology?

Performance psychology often gets pigeonholed as something only for elite athletes or high-level executives. But really, it’s about the coping & thriving skills and mindset that help anyone perform under pressure, manage setbacks, and grow through challenge. Whether you’re preparing for a big competition, leading a team, or simply trying to be your best self every day, the principles of performance psychology apply.

Research shows that mental skills like focus, confidence, emotional regulation, and resilience aren’t fixed traits-they’re learnable and developable. That means with the right support, you can build a mindset that helps you thrive, not just survive.

At Shape Psychology, I’m passionate about making these tools accessible, practical, and tailored to you. Because performance isn’t just about winning medals or closing deals-it’s about living a meaningful, fulfilling life where you can show up fully.

What’s Next?

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more about the core values that shape our work-the SHAPE values-and what they mean in practice. I hope these posts give you a sense of how we work and inspire you to think differently about performance and growth.
